Loren’s supportive and dynamic approach promotes fun learning among her students. Her easy-going nature has helped foster rapport between her and her students which enables them to discuss openly about their learning progress. With over seven years of ESL teaching experience, she has created a valuable collection of resources which she uses and adapts according to every student’s linguistic needs and learning goals.

She graduated from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Melbourne (Australia) with an Honours degree in Media and Communications. She has worked in marketing communications and advertising as a copywriter and editor, and later on in writing and communications as paralegal support in a law firm in Melbourne. She relocated to Austria to study a Master’s degree in English Literature and Culture at the University of Vienna, and taught English as a Second/Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) alongside her studies. During this time, she was also trained in methodological and didactic fundamentals in adult education while undertaking the role as a writing mentor at the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL, University of Vienna).

Loren is currently based in Vienna and continues to teach English to adults and teenagers. She has taught students between 10 and 70 years of age, from all walks of life, from engineers to nurses, company CEOs to retirees, across various organisations and businesses such as the aerospace, manufacturing, air traffic control and recycling industries. Other than giving private lessons and group courses in person, she also teaches online via Zoom and MS Teams. Her online students come from across the globe – Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Turkey, Vietnam and the Philippines. That is one of the reasons why she takes to online teaching – to meet people from around the world, and share with them her knowledge of the language she grew up with. Apart from teaching, she also writes for the TEDxVienna online magazine.

Loren is native to the English language, and also speaks two other languages at intermediate level – German and Mandarin. In her free time, she likes to venture into the mountains and her favourite activities are rock-climbing and skitouring.
